Launched on the 1st of June 2022, Season 5 looks at different aspects around care homes. Care homes have featured heavily during the pandemic, but here we are looking at what has happened before, during, and since the pandemic, and what the sector needs to achieve to provide good quality care for everyone. I am joined by lived and professional experts from the UK and the Netherlands to discuss human rights, innovative long-term care, Green Care Farms, the importance of family carers, and why we need big data. Season 4 – The Basics of Dementia

In Season 4, launched on the 1st of March, I spoke with a number of lived and professional experts about some of basics of dementia. I spoke with Chris Roberts and his wife Jayne Goodrick about living with and caring for someone with young-onset dementia. I chatted to experts from Australia and Canada about how dementia care differs, how people from minority ethnic backgrounds experience dementia care, and what rare dementias are. And much much more.

Season 3 – Ageing Well

In Season 3, I spoke with different experts about what it means to age well. Ageing doesn’t just mean old age, but we can think about that in our 30s and 40s already! So, what does it mean to age well? I spoke to the Manchester Camerata, a number of scientists, a retiree who only started running in her late 50s and has racked up 210 marathons since then! and many others.

Season 2 – Inequalities

Season 2 looked at different angles of inequalities that people with dementia and older adults can often face when trying to access care. Speaking to scientists and care providers, we discussed where someone lives can determine the care people access. In an increasingly digital world, I also spoke to Dr Catherine Talbot about her research into digital inequalities in dementia. A highlight has been talking to the House of Memories about their digital app and their On the Road project, which aims at improving access to dementia services to people with dementia and carers.

Season 1 – COVID-19 and Care

COVID-19 has had a detrimental impact on care for people with dementia, their carers, and older adults. But how exactly has the pandemic affected care and people’s lives? In the first launch season, I spoke with different experts, including unpaid dementia carers, about their experiences. What is the situation in care homes? What is it like caring for someone when services are only doing remote care? What is it like from a care provider point of view?
