About the Forum

Launched in September 2019 at the University of Liverpool, the Liverpool Dementia & Ageing Research Forum started its journey to create an open network to discuss and jointly research dementia and ageing.

The Forum has two aims: 1. To make research easily accessible for everyone and raise awareness of dementia; 2. To create a collaborative network of like-minded people with professional and lived experiences of dementia and ageing.

The Forum has a number of events that you can get involved with. Every two months, we are holding public webinars about a different topic, inviting expert speakers in the field. We are also running a monthly journal club, and of course our annual conference in autumn. Every year, the Forum also participates in Dementia Action Week, to raise awareness of and cause action to improve dementia care.

From humble beginnings in 2019, the Forum has grown rapidly and sees national and international engagement. Whilst the Forum is called the Liverpool Dementia & Ageing Research Forum, the Forum is national/international and only originated at the University of Liverpool. The Forum is run by Dr Clarissa Giebel, and if you want to find out more about the many activities, past and future, have a look across the website.
