4th annual Conference

Join us for the 4th annual conference in Liverpool!

Taking place on the 12th of October at The Florrie in Liverpool, we are for the first time inviting abstracts and want to hear about your research, evaluations, and lived experiences of dementia and caring!

The Conference, as well as other events from the Forum, is national and international, and we welcome submissions from all over. The Forum originated in Liverpool but has a national and international outlook.

Moving on from the pandemic: ongoing priorities in dementia care

This year’s conference theme is addressing the ongoing priorities in dementia care as we are looking at gradually moving on from the pandemic. Whilst the pandemic is still around, there are learnings from the pandemic which may impact on dementia care after COVID-19.

Keep up to date with news about the Conference

The Conference Day – 12th October 2022

Our international conference will take place at The Florrie in Liverpool. Whilst the full list of speakers and talks will depend on your submitted abstracts, we have a number of key sessions already in place.

Keynote Speaker: Prof Siobhan Reilly, Director of the Centre for Applied Dementia Studies at the University of Bradford, will start off the Conference with her keynote speech about her research into dementia care.

Policy Debate: Join us for a policy debate with the Alzheimer’s Society, the Liverpool Heseltine Institute, and Anne Marie Lubanski from the Liverpool City Council on the day. Let’s discuss how we can take research into policy and practice.

Abstract submission is now closed. We received 50 national and international abstracts and the competition was fierce! All presenters have now been informed and we are finalising the agenda. Please check back by the 22nd of July for a full list of confirmed speakers below!

All abstracts were judged by the Planning Committee, comprising of academics, a Charity provider, and unpaid carers.

This year, as the Conference is growing, we will take a minimal ticket fee merely to cover refreshments throughout the day, and to have a small guarantee that those who registered will attend the conference. This will help us in providing the best possible conference day for the Forum, by helping us plan for the number of registered attendees.

However, in the true ethos of the Forum, we wish to keep research freely accessible for those living with dementia and those caring for someone where possible. Therefore, we have a number of free tickets for people living with dementia and unpaid carers.

If you should struggle being able to cover this minimal fee (maximum £35 depending on ticket type), please get in touch with us and we will discuss on an individual basis. As we have to pay for the catering at the venue before the event, registrations will close on the 30th of September. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide a refund due to logistical reasons.
